Gewürztraminer

Vintage: 2009.  Limited Edition.  Total production only 5,916 bottles.
Colour: Pale rim surrounds a straw coloured core with a pinky hue.
Aroma: A lifted, heady nose - beautifully perfumed.  Aromas reminiscent of jasmine, rose petal and Middle Eastern spices (think Arabian nights!).  A touch of smokiness adds complexity.
Palate: The characters are intriguing and plentiful; nougat, clove, orange, lychee and rose oil.  Finishes with a rich, pleasing roundness.

VITICULTURE

Terroir: Soil: free draining, stony silt loam, fine sandy topsoil over alluvial gravels.
2009 Sunshine Hours: 2479 (at parity with long term average).
2009 Growing Degree Days: 1278 (slightly below long term average).
2009 Regional Rainfall: 610mm (slightly below long term average).

Canopy Management Regime: Vertical Shoot Positioning, North-South Facing rows.  Four cane pruning regime.
Harvest Method: Hand harvested.
Harvest Dates: 03rd April.

OENOLOGY

Fermentation: Fruit was 100% de-stemmed and crushed into a tank press and pressed out on a slow gentle press cycle.  Cool fermentation to preserve and accentuate the delicate aromas and flavours.
Residual Sugar: 12.0 g/l
Alcohol Content: 13.5%
Titratable Acid: 5.7 g/l
pH: 3.43
